A significant fraction of the cost comes from the power supply, the enclosure, and the USB isolator. If cost is a more important concern that noise (the differences may be minor) and appearance (the differences may not be minor), almost $500 can be saved by eliminating the USB isolator and finding lower cost alternatives for the enclosure and power supply, such as this very inexpensive switching power supply: Mean Well RT-65C. Noise measurements using Acopian vs. Mean Well power supplies showed a slightly higher 1 kHz peak (~few hundred nV/√Hz) for the cheaper Mean Well power supply but no other differences.
